New Album ‘Like Dust of the Balance’ Out Now

Along with my previous albums, you can stream the whole thing in its entirety here, and can purchase downloads through Bleep and Amazon mp3, with iTunes et al following whenever they get round to it. If you missed out on Lemodie CDs, Bleep now has Lemodie available in lossless wav, for a proper CD-quality download. I had hoped for a repress, but as Benbecula are closing their doors in November, that’s probably now not going to happen.
As for ‘Like Dust’ CDs, your best bet at the moment is to order directly from Benbecula, though I’ve noticed Juno, Norman Records and Rough Trade also have it up for sale. Hopefully the CDs will filter through the usual retail outlets in time, but as it was with Lemodie, distribution is expected to be somewhat spotty for a while.
A Midsummer Nice Dream CDs have now completely sold out; if there’s sufficient demand for a repress, I’ll organise one down the road at some point.
The Ochre tees and hoodies have been selling quite nicely, and I’ve added some more designs for the fairer sex too. Send me some pictures of you wearing your Ochre threads and I’ll put up a gallery of the best ones.

Any chance of a vinyl release?
Not sure yet. I'll have to implement a rigorous feasibility study once I've returned to Ochre Towers, by checking my bank balance. If I can squeeze the whole album on a single 12 without it sounding like the loading screen from Daley Thompson's Decathlon on the Spectrum, then we're set.
May have to carry out some judicious track edits, though, which will pain me greatly.
Just got the .wav files from Bleep. Congratulations on a stunning release. If you decide to perform in Norway, I'll be there
Thanks very much, Kristian!
I'll be picking this up as soon as I can. I'm sad to hear about Lemodie not being done again; it's such an amazing album and I would have loved to get a hold of a hard copy.
If you decide to play live again, come to the states! We need more artists like yourself.

Well, never say never; it's just I can't afford to pay for it at the moment, and neither can Benbecula. I'm sure it'll happen, just not as soon as I'd hoped.
If I do play live again, I'd love to come to the states!
Ochre – Like Dust of the Balance…
Like Dust of the Balance, nya albumet från brittiska Ochre. Sköna glitchiga beats blandat med en hel del icke-konventionella instrument och slagverk som får vissa spår att låta som rena klassiska stycken (Napolese och Hang Garden). Helt klart intressan…
Shame about Benbecula closing shop. It sucks when good underrated indie labels have to shut down..I was very sad when Merck Records shut down a few years ago.
Do you have any leads as to what label you'll appear next?
Yep, a shame it is, but as sales are so poor in the current climate, it makes sense to focus efforts on more potentially financially rewarding pursuits, as I believe Benbecula is (working the publishing side of things a bit harder, chasing syncs etc.).
No idea what I'll be doing though, to be honest, but given how long it took to get this album together, I wouldn't fancy my chances at getting another album out any time soon. We'll have to see what happens.
It's a great pleasure to hear more new sounds from you mate. You still make IDM something different for me. Stay cool
Eray.
I would put your next album out yourself if you could. This website allows for a good connection to the people that love the music. Sort out the digital distribution globally and limit the physical side, thats where most costs are.
However saying that I have just come back from Japan and in shibuya Tokyo HMV i did see "Like Dust of the Balance" on a nice little display in the shop unlike my release just on the shelf, so a good label can get good distribution and give a better profile.
Good news, Lemodie is one of the best things I've heard these last years ! Thanks for the music…
Love the new album Chris. I don’t know how many times I have listened to your last one “Lemodie”.
Thanks Jonathan—glad you’re enjoying it!
You can always tell a great album by it’s second half. The first half of the album is very good, but the last half is stella! Hang Garden, Pteron, Lunar Suburbia, A Great Wave, The Balance – can’t turn them off!
I clicked this (great) album in iTunes Genius today, and apparently Apple have flagged some really strange world music band with the same name as belonging to you: http://bit.ly/7yXl4K
You might want to have your people get on Apple’s people about that.
Thanks Jed! Yeah, I’ve been aware of them for a while now, but there’s not much I can realistically do. I really can’t be bothered to ask Benbecula to ask IODA to ask Apple to make some sort of a distinction between us. It simply won’t happen, knowing how difficult it is to get in touch with the parties involved. I can’t even see ‘Like Dust’ on iTunes yet.
I’ve thought about getting in touch with the other Ochre and asking if they could change their name, but I’d feel like a complete bastard, as they have as much a right to it as I do. I’ve been thinking about changing my own name, to be honest.
