New track demo… a bit different from the usual
EDIT: Limited-time demo removed.
I’ve just uploaded a new track demo, following a tentative test-airing on the kind and gentle folks at em411. It’s a little different to my usual output, actually containing intelligible vocals, and due to my vocal delivery probably has a slight eighties tinge to it. (That makes it hip, right? Or am I 18 months late to that luminous yellow and pink party?) So far I’ve been called a Bowie-esque crooner with hint of David Sylvian, Gary Numan ‘09, and somewhat damningly, Flock of Seagulls.
Dissenters rest assured, I don’t plan to abandon instrumental electronica any time soon, but I will say that this was a lot of fun to record. I kind of want to put out a 7″ with a couple of synthpoppier tracks on it.

these ‘dipping your balls in the water’ moves always make you stronger..
i think people in the real world would like this too.

Thanks Finn — yeah, it’s good to jump out of your comfort zone now and then, get a little excited/scared.
I think if I were to continue with the vocal work, I’d have to get a few lessons under my belt, and learn how to take care of my voice.
Funny, when I listen to the one with vocals, I can totally see the Bowish-Sylvian sound of your voice, but I can also hear some Sylvian-like melodies in the instrumental version!
Do like, mister.
Nice one Chris,
indeed that does sound like a lot of fun. I’ve been really enjoying producing a rather interesting hip-hop project atm. Its a great excursion away from the usual electronic production.
’tis good so switch it up….. i like the results too..
Chris, I just want to say that I thank God I have discovered a unique musician like you, it is easy for me to like a track of someone and another track of another artist, I have listened to all your work and they all are beyond perfection and never was I so fond with someone’s music as I am with yours right now.
Chris,
The new track is quite groovy. It is an easy mix of smooth vocals and intelligent beats. I look forward to your future vocal projects.
Do you plan to release this track at all in the future? I never got an mp3 of the version with vocals.
After many listens, this ones already a classic for me.
Thanks Aaron! Not sure if/how this track will be released; might just release the instrumental version (with the vocals in the second half, anyway).
